Take a closer look at Eric’s Phantom Video images in the gallery “Hidden Rig Revealed“. Check out those images that show the cellar (also see image above). Notice a couple of things, the oil drums around the edge of the cellar (Health & Safety requirement!) but also that the cellar itself has apparently been backfilled with what appears to be top soil. Now perhaps IGas have planted potatoes (spuds) in a rather deep bed as a first step towards site remediation. More likely it’s a short term safety precaution, if you fell into that deep concrete lined cellar you’d probably not get out alive. But my thinking is along these lines, if you had designs on that borehole going forward you might invest in a bespoke safety barrier pretty darn quickly and in the meantime use some heras to make safe. Otherwise if you had to dig the backfill out of the cellar you might damage the cellar itself and or conductor/surface pipework. So has a decision on the borehole already been taken, are we indeed done with it, is it to be abandoned? Or is backfilling a cellar whilst moving heavy equipment in the vicinity a widespread industry practice? Any ideas via the contact form on this website!
